Don't miss what's happening in your neighborhood.

What I fail to understand is the vitriol. They were assembled in Newark, Delaware and Toluca, Mexico.

The timing belts seem to be a common item.

but it's probably worth it.The Spirit R/T is much faster than the Contour V-6 SVT, but gets the same or better gas mileage! The problems of living with a Spirit R/T are what one might expect. Power was underated at 160 hp 4800rpms, the turbo is a Mitsubishi TEO4H, boost was set at about 11 psi (I've seen many RTs that go all the way to 15 psi, mine goes to 13 psi), it also has a bypass valve. Great shape, very few made, reasonable price, interesting representation of the era- an exciting find, in my opinion. The Spirit ES suspension was modified with increased spring rates and front valving, performance-oriented rear shocks, 70mm progressive-rate front jounce bumpers, and a 28.6 mm rear sway bar. As well as good for each brand. For 1992, the "Pumper" or "Turbostar" wheel was introduced.

Compare it with the ETs of some cars that I have run with in the quarter mile at this high altitude. The only mod that I've done to my R/T is to open the exhaust, this helped a lot, before I opened it the car ran 16.15s...now 15.90s. What a car. In 1989, the Dodge Spirit was introduced to provide reliable transportation in a traditionally styled four-door sedan, building on the architecture of the Reliant.Enthusiasts ignored it, though it gained a following among normal customers. Bright Red body with bright red painted wheel inserts (R/T only, 1991) Silver paint was available on the R/T for 1992 and featured R/T five blade wheels. Very, very nice.Agreed Scotty! One of the latter is the object of our scrutiny today- a 1991 Dodge Spirit R/T, for which the seller is asking $3,100. Total crap box the build quality and materials were awful.

I knew people who bought these and the 53K miles seems believable as they spent a lot of time in the shop or sent to the junkyard as the cost of repair was more than the value of the car. )Yup, nothing works better to prove your point than calling people names.Probably the best of the K-cars. $3,500. 1991 Dodge Spirit 4 Dr R/T Turbo Sedan . But still, all in all, a k-car. However, the one listed above is not and, to me, looks well worth the asking price. The seemingly obligatory ground effect lower bodywork modifications are in evidence, though.

If you need one or know of any one who does let me know.If you haven't already experienced it yet the heads have a design flaw - the driver side rear corner, where they like to leak anti-freeze. It was the turbo model with those weird wheels. Please share some examples along with your Shadow GTS you think it was.Why is it hard to believe there are cheap examples of such a crap car?Divide the prices by $18.50, which is the exchange rate for today. You can see that even in nice condition, they are basically worthless. The most expensive of any of these was $40,000 which in dollars is $2162.00.It appears that the Spirit RT in Mexico was different that the U.S. version.

And with over 220 horsepower and 217-foot-pounds of torque, your going to want to hold that steering wheel real tight! Every 40,000 km or so the distribution chain (timing belt) breaks... this car is just incredible.

If I have not gotten the turbo spooled, the Neon will get the first licks in at any traffic light. It was called the Spirit R/T, and there’s a pristine one currently for sale on Autotrader.

If you have a spare car or a short commute, or a surfeit of mechanical skill, it's probably worth it. No offense, but there’s only one person who knows for sure what the above car is worth… the guy who gives up his money for it.For every story of bad experience there is an equal story of good experience. Use our search to find it. That’s why there so hard to find today.

The car qualifies as a "sleeper" in the boulevard wars, and make no mistake about it, it will suck the doors off of a lot of supposedly "hot" cars, and not shame itself in the company of the rest.Dodge made Spirit R/Ts for just the 1991 and 1992 model years, and in limited quantities. One R/T owner said they sometimes suddenly “bind,” resulting in the bracket breaking, and or the gears on the shaft which drives the pump getting stripped. And they are obviously just thrown together- one to resemble a Plymouth Acclaim and the other a Chrysler Lebaron. On the highway, power is available in a second.Gas mileage could be better, but it is exceptional for the power and speed you get - compared even with, say, a brand new Audi TT, which is much smaller inside, not to mention newer, pricier, and kitschier.Highway mileage is not too bad at about 28-29 mpg, but city is about 22, I'd say.

What is it about someone’s viewpoint makes it important for you guys to be “right”?
