A house of horrors. Looks like it was made by a bunch of neighborhood friends. It is a film of an interrogation and a show-trial, a combatant argument between two men. The Prisoner is a fascinating piece of work, directed by Peter Glenville and based on the play by Bridget Boland, it tells the story of a Cardinal accused of treason in an East European country post-World War 2; previously a hero of the resistance against the Nazi, he falls foul of the capricious Communist. If not for anything, watch it for its stellar cast and breathtaking cinematography. An actually good slow burn. Watched Though the roots and first rebound of this genre comes from Ray Harryhausen, given his stop-motion assistance for many films like All the films from my exploitation lists, bundled into one mega-super-list-to-rule-them-all! the movie he created then proceeded to invent rain, plot development, and the thriller genreuhhh HEY MTV!
jake gyllenhaal and hugh jackman take their performances to another level and they both add so much to this already dark and disturbing film.
dude past chelsea was being generous with one star this movie sucked straight up.most likely watching nocturnal animals. Favorites: Prisoners (2013), Dunkirk (2017), Stand by Me (1986), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004). That said, it very much does what it claims; it presents a story with enough pace between misplaced (apparently) comedic moments to meander towards lacklustre action - interspersed with inappropriate treatment of female characters.“I guess this must be Hell. There is no review for this diary entry. Djay and the Help grieve for their daughter too. Though the roots and first rebound of this genre comes from Ray Harryhausen, given his stop-motion assistance for many films like Dan and Carrie ''accidentally'' fell into Dr. Hartmann's machine and were transported into a parallel universe. Prisoners. The direction from Denis is stellar even in this more grounded film. And...that's sort of it. It’s clearly a low-budget 80’s sci-fi wanna-be swords ‘n’ sandals. Hereditary. A hard watch, but a damn fuckin good film.i imagined if this was directed by david fincher & i almost started cryingacting was invented in the scene where hugh is yelling and punching the car and jake just goes "HEY AY AY AY HEY AY AY AY AY" like that nine times in a rowi've found the 8th wonder of the world...... it's jake gyllenhaalRoger deakins picked up the camera he used for this movie and invented not only the entire art of cinematography but the also the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. denis villeneuve’s filmography continues to impress me and his direction always makes for a film that flows perfectly from the second the opening credits start. Prisoners 2013 ★★★★★ Watched Jul 15, 2018. bethany’s review published on Letterboxd: what an insanely intense and suspenseful film this was. Jingle bells, Batman smells. Rate, review and tag films as you add them. A red whistle. Haaaaa!! Dumb, unoriginal but endearing and inoffensive fantasy that felt more in the lineage of 50’s sci-fi movies than it did an 80’s movie - the kind of 80’s movie usually made with Italian money, which is what i was expecting.Fun little precursor to Army of Darkness, with an everyman hero pulled into a savage world. This wasn't actually that bad for what it was. A creepy camper. so if you step in we've got some sick mazes all over the walls, did them myself - no professional art lessons, by the way ;) then if you look in here we have the casual pigs head in the sink, sort of a statement piece to tie the room together an- Oh!
Made me like the kid from 13 Reasons Why.Finally got around to watching this one and oh my goodness it did not disappoint! Three people are transported into a parallel universe. Also, the riffs by Rifftrax were better too second time. it’s a concept that has A LOT to do…Pessimistic worldviews. Tension was kept consistent through the writing and slow unraveling of the mystery.
