The master plan was overseen by the Grampians Peaks Trail Task Force, a group chaired by Grampians Tourism and comprising representatives from local shires, tourism bodies, walking clubs and state government agencies including Regional Development Victoria, Tourism Victoria and Parks Victoria.The first stage of the trail was launched in May 2015 and includes a 36 kilometre one-way three day/two night loop walk from Halls Gap to Borough Huts and returning to Halls Gap.
