All teams have now focused their attention on this weekend with the goal of becoming 2019 Provincial Champions. In individual sports where it may be unrealistic for one teacher to accompany one student, the zone may designate teacher supervisors for athletes.
The designated teacher supervisor should have a copy of the letter, with them during the championship.Teachers employed in the school division where they are coaching a team, may be the supervisor for that team. Admission is good for the 2019 BC Secondary School Volleyball Provincial Championships happening at the Langley Events Centre from Wednesday, November 27 to Saturday, November 30.
The deciding 5th set is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points. There is no Consolation side. The top team from the round robin will receive a bye to the final with the 2nd and 3rd place teams playing to see who will advance to the final. A great deal of hard work has gone into practices, matches and tournaments in preparation for this Championship. (league, exhibition or tournament - Tournaments count as two matches). (no point cap).Junior Varsity Eligibility Rule: in order to be eligible for the junior varsity competition the athlete must meet the following requirements: For “A” and “AA” schools students may compete in an unlimited number of matches at the varsity level and still maintain their eligibility to compete in the junior varsity Provincial Championships. “If we’re rolling this weekend, we could definitely contend for the title.”The Riverview program, which has seven graduating players this year, advanced to the provincial championship tournament in each of the past six years.Last year, the Royals were defeated in the tournament by the eventual provincial champion, Dartmouth High School, and the provincial finalist, Cobequid Educational Centre.Riverview last won a volleyball provincial championship in 2010, the same year the school captured provincial titles in cheerleading and girls' soccer.“It would be awesome to win the provincials in our final year,” said Phillipo, who currently plays for Volleyball Nova Scotia’s under-17 provincial team.“It would be a big accomplishment to have our names on the wall at Riverview — it would be like leaving our legacy.”The Royals will open the tournament Friday (Dec.6) at 1 p.m. against Park View. The gravel section of the lot is available for all to use.
