Chronic illness management programs are also being developed for use in Mexico and China.The education and training program focuses on continuing professional education for medical, allied health and other health professionals; research capacity building for primary healthcare workers and academic programs for both pharmacists and mental health professionals.

A focus for all of these entities within Flinders Rural Health SA is building the rural health workforce with a social accountability mandate, particularly in relation to rural and Indigenous health. Designed to address rural health workforce issues, it has three academic areas:The BH UDRH also contributes to developments in preventative and population health, and helps formulate innovative service delivery models in rural and remote NSW.The University Centre for Rural Health, North Coast is based at Lismore in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.As well as the main Lismore campus there are smaller campuses in Murwillumbah and Grafton. This collaborative work will be facilitated through telehealth technology and will include engaging with the community and across sectors and institutions.The Centre for Remote Health (CRH) is a joint centre of Flinders University and Charles Darwin University. Rural clinical placements are a fundamental driver for recruiting and retaining future health workforce. Through its partnership with the PHCRED program, the UDRH contributes to building research capacity among rural health professionals and developing a strong rural health research culture.The University of Melbourne Department of Rural Health is based in Shepparton, Wangaratta and Ballarat, Victoria. We also work collaboratively with the communities of Murray Bridge, Hamilton (Victoria), Burra and the Mid North to help improve health outcomes and education.

These underpin departmental activities through 14 Rural Health Teaching sites which provide a base for education, training and locally based research and evaluation.The UDRH works with the health sector to support the rural health professional workforce on a multidisciplinary basis, liaising with education and training providers to provide access to interprofessional clinical experiences and to accredited flexible learning courses.Workforce and health service systems are the focal points of activity. The Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health UDRH is a key initiative in the Commonwealth Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program. Telehealth is recognised as a growing adjunct to health service delivery, especially in rural areas.
